Queen and subjects
Helen Mirren, Mill Valley honoree, arrives to wild applause and walks the carpet for a moment with fan Robert Plath of Mill Valley. She’d sat with journalists for a cozy chat before her screening, and, when asked about the tattoo on her hand, said it was from “When I got very drunk on a North American Indian reservation in Minnesota. Gosh a long time ago, in the ’70s, when only Hell’s Angels and sailors were tattooed.” What did it mean? “Equal and opposite.” We were charmed. (Photo by Laura Irvine; reporting by Jennifer Young)
