San Francisco Silent Film Festival Executive Director Stacey Wisnia paused outside the Castro after the screening of The Kiss of Mary Pickford Saturday with San Francisco Film Society’s Steven Jenkins, who read/performed the English translation of the Ukranian intertitles for this fascinating piece of silent film history, in which documentary footage of a Pickford-Fairbanks visit to Russia is woven into a slapstick comedic cautionary tale about fame.
