"Mother," may I?
Bong Joon-ho offered a lively introduction to his film Mother, Korea’s entry for the Academy Awards, in a screening late in 2009, saying, "This is a movie about Mother. Who is Mother? What is Mother? Is she an angel is she a devil? Maybe you can answer that. My own mother watched this film six months ago and before she saw it I was extremely nervous. I was more nervous than when I was in Cannes! And for six months my mother never talked about it and I never asked her [audience laughs] so I really don’‘t know what she thinks about it but I guess I’ll try to find out by the year’s end." The film opens in March. (Reporting by Laura Irvine and Jennifer Young)
