"Milk" at the Castro
A scene worth revisiting, as Milk continues on at the Castro: Director Gus Van Sant and Mayor Gavin Newsom mingled with the cameras and the crowd before the world premiere benefit screening of Milk at the Castro last month. Political eras collided as a film about Harvey Milk’s ’70s met with "No on 8" chants outside the theater, and Sean Penn and friends shared the carpet with Milk’s living compatriots. It was followed by a party at a surreal setting for this particular biopic: San Francisco City Hall.
