After midnight
Rosario Dawson and Sam Rockwell received their Midnight Awards (first-ever presentation at the SFIFF) with gratitude to the Bay Area: Dawson fondly remembered her only year spent in San Francisco (when she was ten, she attended John Muir Elementary School); Rockwell comes from Daly City, though he’s been living on the East Coast for more than 20 years (he recalled watching “Star Wars,” “The Deer Hunter,” and other classics here in San Francisco at one existing theater, the Balboa, and many extinct ones).
