"Holy Girl" trinity
Argentine director Lucrecia Martel (center) whose films’ B-film titles (The Swamp, The Holy Girl, The Headless Woman) belie their depth and intelligent probing of the bourgeoisie came to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts at the invitation of programmer Joel Shepard for two soldout screenings and an onstage conversation with B. Ruby Rich, a longtime champion of Latin American cinema. The Headless Woman will return on September 18 at SFFS Screen at the Sundance Kabuki.
