INDEPENDENT EXPOSURE 2010 is now accepting short videos, films and digital-media submissions of 15 minutes or less. Independent Exposure 2010 is the 14th annual showcase for contemporary, progressive, artistic, and culturally relevant short films and videos by some of the most compelling artists and filmmakers from around the globe. AMIA 2010 (November 2–6) In 2010, the Association of Moving Image Archivists and the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives will come together for the first time in a joint conference. The conference program focuses on urgent problems faced by the "lone arranger" to a national collection, with attention to pressures of shifting technologies and managing budgets. IFP’S 2010 INDEPENDENT FILMMAKER LABS (June 7-11) is a program supporting first-time feature directors with low-budget, independently produced films at the crucial rough cut/post production stage. The Labs are a highly immersive, free mentorship program providing professional and creative guidance; pushing directors to realize the full potential of their stories – and careers. SFFS FILMMAKER CLASSES
(ongoing) The San Francisco Film Society offers relevant and engaging classes for emerging artists, film professionals and cinephiles of all ages and skill levels. The program develops and hones students’ skills in small classroom settings, where participants learn how to shape their ideas for documentary or narrative films into fully realized productions. SFFS Filmmaker Education covers both the business side and the artistic aspects of filmmaking and empowers students to capitalize on the latest funding trends, business models and networking opportunities. Each living space includes basic furnishings, a kitchen, bathroom, double bed, and private phone.
