Blogerazzi SFIAAFF: H.P. Mendoza and cast

Jennifer Young: H.P. Mendoza, on stage at the world premiere of his film, Fruit Fly, explained the germ of the project. "L.A. Renigan and I would go to all the gay bars and probably 80 percent of the time L.A. wouldn’t even have opened her mouth and someone would walk up to her and say, ‘You are so fierce you remind me of Margaret Cho.’ And L.A. would say ‘WHY, Why?’ And I would say, ‘It’s because you’re Asian! And Margaret Cho being the face of fag-hagdom is apparently the only Asian face the gay community knows!’ And I said I just have to do something about this and I just started writing one song about fag-hags, about being a fag-hag, and it lead to being a fruit fly!"
