SF Chronicle on Harding Theater: "City, supervisor back developer's idea, but preservationists object"
"Once a popular jazz-age neighborhood venue where people watched vaudeville acts, silent films and talkies, the Harding Theater is again the center of attention in a resurgent section of San Francisco’s Western Addition," reports Robert Selna. "The city’s Planning Department and district Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi are backing a developer’s plan for an eight-unit condominium building adjacent to the Harding, which opened at Divisadero and Hayes streets near Alamo Square in 1926 and had late-life careers as a light-music theater and rock concert hall before it closed for good."
